Poverty, marginazlation and, yes, discrimination seep into the culture, behavior, norms and mores of a community. If it goes on long enough, it breeds social degeneration and a toxic, disadvantageous attitude. Stuff like gang culture, idolizing "thug life", drug addiction, abandoning one's kids, a victim mentality or being hostile to education. This internalizing of toxic social norms and cultures is not limited to blacks btw, rust belt whites suffer from the same effect.
Yea I am aware of closed loop cycles that almost seem like the behaviour is ingrained into DNA. However that's a defence mechanism to stop oneself from changing its much easier to use skin pigment as a get out of jail card.
There so many role models now on any level that are easier then ever to access and pull yourself out of any hell hole.
I am all about moving forward, and I've figured that if people consistently try to slap your hand away when you reach out don't want your help. One cannot wollop in others misery and recite historical injustices on a daily basis. The only way you can help people is when you help yourself and others of similar experience will attract and want to rise with you. You either find people to aspire towards their level or if you cannot find such people you have to be the torch bearer. The only time you go down is when you got some loot to mf in the lower dungeons metaphorically speaking.
