I think this talking point that "GWB was actually really smart" is pure propaganda by people from Bushworld who wanted to do some revisionist history on his admin after 2008, so that the president they were inextricably associated with looked better. I have never seen GWB say or do anything that suggests striking levels of intelligence. He surely was smarter than he let on, he most definitely had an IQ above 100, but I really doubt he ranked much higher than the 85th percentile or so, which is still really low for a POTUS.

Bush was smart, but he was also easily manipulated by Cheney. Him and Trump did the same thing where they just kind of listened to the last word in the room and then they surrounded themselves with establishment goons.

i'm with blackx on this one. i don't think bush jr. was particularly smart. he might not be as strikingly and offensively stupid as trump, but just listening to him you can tell he's not exactly a genius (even though intelligence obviously does not necessarily make you a brilliant wordsmith or even just a competent public speaker). even with socially awkward people (which he most definitely is not) you can tell with relative certainty if they are intelligent or not. i don't doubt that coming across as relatable is something bush embraced to a certain degree, but still, i'd be genuinely shocked if he was actually secretly "smart AF". being easily manipulated is just another indication he's not btw - even though, again, it's theoretically possible to be really smart and still bad with words and manipulable (maybe he's a math prodigy or plays chess at grandmaster level?).

There is nothing tone-deaf about pointing out that pedophilia is the sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children while there is nothing remarkable, deviant or abnormal about finding certain adolescents physically attractive. Throughout much of the Middle Ages and early modern period, it was perfectly normal and common for girls to get married at age 15 or 16. Do you seriously believe that all of our ancestors were pedos?
