Dude
Did the free market prevent the killing of 97% of the natives?

The free market is over rated: it solves almost nothing.
You like capitalism?
Ok
But please don't pretend the free market will solve everything.
That's a bad joke.

the free market just puts food on your table and gives you the ability to even make stupid wannabe socialist posts in internet forums

the free market has solved every single problem out there, technical advance, basic needs etc

china embracing open markets in a controlled way lifted hundreds of millions out of extreme poverty

if you hate it so much go to venezuala where starving women sell their bodies for 5 dollars

Capitalism is good at a few things but really bad at other things. Theres no such thing as a perfect system.

Shouldnt Starlink solve the issue of shitty rural internet in most places? Seems like a waste of taxpayer dollars to throw government money after a problem that the free market will have solved already by the time any gov't solution could even take effect.

Starlink is far from a guarantee and its honestly pretty cheap to run internet cables. Its already taking effect. My mom has decent internet since last year.

I'm not proposing to stop any government-funded programs for expanded internet access, dont get me wrong. It's just that we were talking about places in the deepest boonies, like the Nunavut province in Canada or Indian reservations in the Arizona desert and similar places. And for those, Starlink seems like the much cheaper alternative.

Iirc, your family is from rural Missouri, which is... really rural, but still not as desolate and low density as many other places. If I had to guess out of my ass, the pop density in rural Missouri should be on the verge of what is economically feasible with some measured subsidies. The same can't be said for many regions further west.

Its pretty cheap to do buried cables though. I'd imagine moderate subsidy is all you need to get those places.

But it's only cheap if there are ongoing construction works anyway. Opening up the roads just to lay a cable which in the end will serve just three farms (or smth like that) most definitely isnt profitable.

In my mom's place, gas pipes were laid along the roads in 2011, and they were thankfully smart enough to seize the opportunity and leave cables for broadband internet. My ping at her place was borderline unplayable before that.

yes they did, when everybody was performing subsistence agriculture and we didnt have a hopeless overpopulation that demands mass production

markets have produced a quicker modernisation in the last 50 years than in 200k years before that

but i can 100% agree on the last part at least, however good capitalist countries like switzerland come pretty close

i know you refuse to understand the basic nature of humans in favor of leftist ideology, but capitalism gives everybody a chance and 99% of poor people have to blame themselves only

these exact same people wouldnt even have survived a thousand years back

dude

Dollar was world currency.
That's why the USA is/was/used to be so rich.

But nowadays, dollar isn't the world currency anymore, thanks to Vladimir Putin.
Stop showing off.
Frimeur. Frimeur frimeur frimeur frimeur.

Oops sorry.

English language has no word for "frime".
