Most of the MSM does. This narrative that antifa violence is widely supported in the media is nonsense.

It's worth noting though that Andy Ngo was not assaulted because he is a 'journalist'. He was assaulted because he is known for doxxing antifa members (and some people who aren't antifa members) and exposing them to violent retribution from far right hategroups - as has been demonstrated several times in this thread already. Read up on the Cider Riot incident and the Independent journalists being put on an Atomwaffen hitlist. And among antifa members he is viewed as working with groups like Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys having engaged in a media campaign to both protect them and demonise antifa.

With this in mind when he approaches antifa taking pictures and they tell him to 'Fuck off Andy Ngo' and he doesn't - you can easily see how their response might turn violent. Ngo's presence puts their safety at risk.

You can agree or disagree with their actions but what is dishonest is trying to portray this as an attack on a journalist with 'different ideas'. Plenty of other conservative journos present. They weren't assaulted. Andy Ngo was. And then lied about how badly he was hurt and made a fundraiser that netted him a quarter million dollars. The anitfa guys played right into his hands tbh. He has spent a long time following them around and antagonising them in the hopes something like this would happen.

The right (specifically trump supporters) repeat journalist over and over because they have spent years screaming fake news and enemy of the people and on occasion getting physical with journalists so on the journalist part it's entirely self serving and not anything they are principled about

doesn't matter if the guy was a journalist or not for this case and in this instance it's just a politically manipulative talking point for Trump supporters

Antifa gave them a freebie by assaulting this specific person that is gay non white and a journalist. They will and have used it to divert attention from their own behavior with journalists and the icing on the cake for them is it wasn't a fascist or a nazi

Finally we can agree. People might be able to make a good argument that Andy Ngo is a fascist but they'll have a hard time convincing the shitlibs.
More accurate is to say Ngo is a useful idiot. He is used by the fash... whether he is a fascist or not himself is contentious enough as to be irrelevant.

e/ although once again you downplay the actions of the right. They didn't just 'get physical' with journalists. They fucking murdered them.

In the US so far it's only been attempted murders. Luckily the police got to them before they managed it such as in the case of Christopher Hasson. Worldwide however journalists are being murdered by the right at an alarming rate. India is probably the worst for it atm.

the problem I have with all of this is you/antifa take murderers or attempted murderers and lone wolf types with clear mental issues and then try to make it seem like roaming around portland and other US cities in masks is somehow fighting that or stopping that and that it excuses the behavior of antifa

The only honest comparisons are if you want to find instances of these right wing groups doing what antifa is doing which you try to do but very few people here condone violence or excuse it

You see accountability for the group you support as a lack of condemnation of whatever random violence you can dig up (many of us don't browse the net for skirmishes with these groups like some of you do) on the other side but that's not honest or the reality.

I mean we can see a clear path to radicalisation in the groups we're talking about. They aren't just 'lone wolves'. They are part of communities that actively encourage eachother to greater acts of extremism until eventually someone takes it to the level of murder.

You can disagree that the method of violently assaulting people without immediate threat to your person is a poor way to stop these extremist groups and I would happen to agree with you in most cases. Like I've said many times - it gives ammo to the other side. But to downplay the threat that these groups pose is to play right into their hands as well.

The Milo thing was included kinda tongue in cheek. His rhetoric is common among the right however. The idea that journos should be murdered is not alien to their discourse.

These right wing groups absolutely do what antifa does, and worse tbh. Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys especially are all about starting fights - Antifa are mostly about self-defense and the defense of communities.

FYI the reason there wasn't a bigger riot in DC this saturday was because of people doing the kind of work I do AND antifa.

Unicorn Riot members released DMs of AIM's plans for the weekend and soon after that they decided to cancel because of the resistance they would meet. There are many ways to fight fascism and sometimes they intersect and work with eachother for desirable effects.
