When Trump's antics threw the Georgia runoffs to Democrats and gave them control of the Senate, I was fearing the worst - but in hindsight, it might have been a blessing in disguise. This 50+1/50 Senate is preventing Dems from getting anything big done, ensures that voters blame congressional gridlock on them instead of the GOP and brutally exposes the substantial divisions within the Democratic party.

Oversimplified yet so accurate. Free stuff isn't free everyone pays. That kind of system only encourages bums to multiply because eventually people figure out they don't have to be productive any more. In the end everyone ends up on welfare and starvation follows, ontop of debt, inflation and ever increasing living costs.

Thats pretty dumb. Sometimes it saves you money. Take "free" healthcare. Every estimate, even by conservative think tanks, agrees that we would save a ton of money with national healthcare because its simply more efficient. When people have access to preventative care they work more, live better lives, and save healthcare cost in the long run.

I think we must really distinguish between full-blown communism and social democracy here. The things he described are only true in communism while a system with sensible, well-calibrated regulations and an adequate social safety tends to perform better than a system characterised by free market fundamentalism. The term "socialism" is really murky in this regard because it (at least in colloquial conversation) encompasses such a wide range of systems, from something very close to communism to something like Sweden.

yet you are the first one who uses the retarded american red-scare propaganda "definition" when it fits your chosen narrative, and then unashamedly turns around and pretends to be concerned about a more accurate distinction when someone debunks right wing narratives by pointing at western / northern europe. trying to have your cake and eat it.
