I'm actually quite pleased with how many people see through this BS atleast on PaRD.

I think part of it is also because there was a soft alienation or dealignment going on under the surface between Trump and many of his supporters here on PaRD. At least that's how I, personally, felt. Imho, Trump's support, at least here on this sub, was always based to a lesser degree on a cult of personality than our resident lefties wanted to admit. Personality aside, I think most of us knew that another Trump term would not help "the cause", probably even hurt it.

His presidency had simply run its course. He had lost his populist mojo, seemed completely out of his depth on covid, there were almost no more court seats to fill. He was not able to break the left's cultural hegemony, and another EC win while losing the popular vote by 3+ percent was definitely not gonna change that. Without the House, further inroads were impossible both on the policy and the fight-over-public-opinion fronts. Even Trump's own campaign couldnt come up with a good reason why he should be reelected, other than "to prevent the stuff the Democrats want to do". He completely failed to offer any positive vision for the next 4 years.

The Trump train was clearly heading nowhere, it was time to get off.

Hey guys. Prepare for national security announcement. Military special operations forces and special forces just elevated to same status as all 3 letter agencies.

If I had to guess thats probably because it started off as a cult of personality movement even on here (I should know, was part of it lol) there are a few still here (like 3-5) that are in that though. Pretty much anywhere else online it was/is almost purely cult of personality so the mindset that its everywhere just kind of bleeds into here.

This seems like a pretty well thought out read on the situation though  .

The central issue has always been that the Democratic party is ideologically unacceptable, and there is zero faith that Biden has the means or the desire to stop the tide.

Conservatives have been criticizing Trump (on here and elsewhere) for years, and I don't mean faux-right wing types like the Lincoln project.

I agree when it comes to the current situation, but I disagree with the notion that it has always been this way. Obama's platform back in 2008 was actually pretty dope.

The Democratic party only became unpalatable when it started fully embracing the wokesters and a "demographics is destiny"-outlook on politics. In recent years, its two dominant factions have fully aligned themselves with two similarly unbearable societal visions: either "socialism light" (Bernie/AOC wing), or with some sort of Silicon-Valley-inspired, authoritarian "big tech neofeudalism" (Biden/Pelosi wing). They have morphed into an anti-American, anti-middle class abomination.
