The difference is intention.
Trump actively dog whistled to xenophobia. Biden doesn't. They are categorically different in their intentions around the subject.
Biden isn't the same person he was in 1970. Trump was called out in real time.
I know you know this, so stop being a dishonest hack.
So, to sum it up:
- Biden made lots of racist or dogwhistling comments back when it was socially acceptable
- he championed bills (the super predator crime bill) and procedural outcomes (shitting on Clarence Thomas) which were very deliberately intended by his party as dogwhistling to white voters and which, in the case of the crime bill, had a measurable racially discriminatory effect
- he keeps making racist comments in the present, over and over again
- but for some unspecified reason, you are convinced that he is not the same person he was in 1970 and that his present-day racist comments are not as ill-intenioned as either his comments from back then, or the things he actually did as a Senator as recently as the 90s.
I'm not necessarily insinuating that you are wrong, but the logical leap in step 4 needs some solid reasoning and cannot be brushed aside by simply asserting that Biden had good intentions this time; not when we keep in mind that he demostrably had bad intentions while making very similar remarks in the past.
