The difference is intention.

Trump actively dog whistled to xenophobia. Biden doesn't. They are categorically different in their intentions around the subject.

Biden isn't the same person he was in 1970. Trump was called out in real time.

I know you know this, so stop being a dishonest hack.

So, to sum it up:

- Biden made lots of racist or dogwhistling comments back when it was socially acceptable
- he championed bills (the super predator crime bill) and procedural outcomes (shitting on Clarence Thomas) which were very deliberately intended by his party as dogwhistling to white voters and which, in the case of the crime bill, had a measurable racially discriminatory effect
- he keeps making racist comments in the present, over and over again
- but for some unspecified reason, you are convinced that he is not the same person he was in 1970 and that his present-day racist comments are not as ill-intenioned as either his comments from back then, or the things he actually did as a Senator as recently as the 90s.

I'm not necessarily insinuating that you are wrong, but the logical leap in step 4 needs some solid reasoning and cannot be brushed aside by simply asserting that Biden had good intentions this time; not when we keep in mind that he demostrably had bad intentions while making very similar remarks in the past.

Joe Biden was CARRIED by the black community in the Democrat primary. Biden has been working with the black establishment for decades which is why he gets the benefit of the doubt. He's had those ties for decades prior to Obama. Why are you playing dumb on this issue?

lmao imagine thinking "working closely" with black ethno nazis is a feather in his cap

My position is that Biden is definitely still a little bit racist, but it mostly comes from his unexamined biases and not negative intentions. There is not a chance in hell that modern weiden would advocate for explicitly racist policies like he would in the past. Meanwhile Trump wasn't racist exactly but he was more than willing to emboldened racism as a useful tool for driving his own supporters. And in a lot of ways that's worse than being openly racist.

That's why Biden gets the benefit of the doubt. If he's corrected there is very little doubt he will change his views where appropriate, and he has actively taken steps to curtail his own biases. That's one of his cited reasons for picking his VP.

tldr of the article: all ties of Biden to the black community the entire article can point to is his affiliation with Obama.

Obama gave him the Presidential Medal of Freedom after working with him closely for several years. I think that alone bolsters the argument that he is not the same as his 90's self.

You shut up with your facts. He needs an excuse to call the media biased for not treating Trump and Biden the exact same way
