you can't possibly be that gullible. the likes of manchin, sinema, pelosi, feinstein, biden... and pretty much every single republican vote for / against what their DONORS (and own financial interests) demand - not the "political leanings of (their) state", lol.

those aren't bills about "golden toilets" or some other frivolous bs though, you hack - those are affordable and realistic policies that have proven successful in many of america's peer countries. you know that very well, that's why you can't address the issues directly, and have to come up with excuses featuring golden toilets to dismiss popular opinion and lick billionaire boot...

Other countries have implemented (the population-adjusted equivalent of) $3.5 trillion dollars in additional social spending without going into debt to do so ("affordable") or triggering a wave of inflation that eats up the benefits of the bill?

Over 10 years? I'm sure you guys far exceed that. Your benefits are WAY better than what's being proposed here..

oh, mr. obtuse strikes again. other countries have implemented various measures (child credits / universal healthcare / social programs) that are in that package, and that are absolutely reasonable to expect in the richest country in the world - so your suggestion it's frivolous handouts to lazy folk is nothing but mindlessly regurgitating billionaire propaganda...

The mathematics are fucked. Anyone with a college degree can see that the estimates are BOGUS.

I don't think the bill should pass without the CBO scoring it. I'm against the child tax credits because they are INSANELY expensive and I'm not sure how effective they will be in the long run. Like yea, they cut poverty by a SUBSTANTIAL amount but is it sustainable? I'm skeptical of child care pay increases combined with the subsidies for families. That is definitely going to warp the market and I'm not sure how accurate the forecast will be for that. The rest seems fairly straightforward.

Bills which promise to give people free stuff and let some other, unpopular group pay for it will always poll well. If you wrote a bill promising to build a golden toilet for every American and let the billionaires pay for it, that bill would also poll well. ;)

This doesnt mean that people would still support it after both sides had time to put a partisan spin on the bill. Just look at Obamacare, which gave many people better healthcare coverage and was mostly paid for by people with higher incomes - it was still an electoral stinker for a couple of years before the electorate had warmed up to it. And even today, it's decently popular but not a political slam dunk.

Read the document. Regardless of who pays for it it's close to 50% and only crosses under certain circumstances. For instance a millionaire tax doesn't pass 50% with Republicans but a billionaire tax does.

So no, you are wrong, and I've already tackled this specific point when you've brought it up under other circumstances.

Ooh, an actual case of the genetic fallacy.

Attack the methodology or move on.

Read how they frame each question to respondents. Manchin's problem specifically is that he doesn't know how it'll be paid for and isn't convinced it will have the sort of impact promised.

Apply the sniff test. Manchin is the Senate's most conservative Democrat, and he's the only Democrat sufficiently conservative to win in West Virginian. Do you really think the right strategy to appeal to West Virginians is to go further left?

The right strategy for West Virginia, as proven by polling that has spanned back at least since March, is to stay middling or right on social issues, and go hard left on economic issues.

Things like raising taxes on billionaires, a wealth tax, and the human infrastructure stuff, are massively popular even among Republicans.

Republicans bread and butter is culture war bullshit, because they lost on virtually every issue economic issue.

CRT didn't become an issue because it's taught in schools (because it isn't). It became an issue because they needed a boogeyman to distract from their economic failings with the american people.

The subsidies for families are bullshit. Biden structured the bill so that it will only help Mexican criminal "families".
