"Bold progressive legislation"
That's not the infrastructure bill dude. The infrastructure bill is mostly shit we should have done 10 years ago. We're in "bare minimum" territory and having trouble passing that.
If Democrats actually campaigned massively on a bold progressive economic platform they would win a lot more. Instead they campaign on milk-toast minimum action that should have been campaigned for ten years ago.
Also, Manchin is absolutely not voting in line with the polticial leanings of his state. The legislation is massively popular in his state. The majority of likely voters support the package. Manchin is voting AGAINST his state because he personally benefits. He is a blatantly corrupt politician along with Sinema.
I was talking about the Build Back Better/reconciliation bill. Spending $3.5 trillion on "human infrastructure" is economically progressive, and it is this bill which is struggling to get through. Without the tactical shenanigans surrounding BBB, the infrastructure bill would have passed a long time ago. Like I said before: it is the House progressives in tandem with Biden/Pelosi who are holding the bipartisan infrastructure bill hostage trying to gain leverage to ram through a piece of legislation (reconciliation bill) which does not have majority support.
If Biden/Pelosi wanted, the bipartisan infrastructure bill could pass next week.

Are you fucking serious right now? I want my policies passed no matter what!!!
Seriously, the Dems are LUCKY to have the majority. After election night, we thought we were looking at a 52-48 GOP majority. Remember that NC Senator who cheated on his wife? Why aren't we blaming him? What about Susan Collins' opponent? Joni Ernst's? I think Manchin gets WAY too much shit and the Dems are lucky AF to have him.
No one but Manchin could have held the WV seat in 2018. On the other hand, Republicans are lucky AF to have Susan Collins. Her 2020 opponent (Sara Gideon?) ran a lazy, uninspired campaign, but Collins actually won by such a wide margin (8.6 points) that she presumably would have defeated even a much stronger opponent. The true story of the Maine race is that the polls completely missed the strength of Collins.
