Roberts makes no sense. Stare decisis from a decision from 3 years ago? "Even though i think this is wrong, i'll vote completely contradictory to my recent stance on this same issue"

I think the guy is losing his backbone, sounds to me like he's more concerned with going with the flow of the political winds rather than being ideologically and philosophically consistent.

It's not THAT simple but that's the brunt of it. Roberts did say that the law, in a vacuum, is fine. The problem is that Louisiana intentionally did this to shut down almost all abortion clinics in the state. That WOULD violate PP vs. Casey which IS precedent.

On the other hand, Roberts did hand us a victory by allowing scholarships to be used for ANY private school (including religious ones!)
I've long held the belief that SCOTUS has gone too far with their separation of church and state attitude. You can't intentionally discriminate against religious institutions if the primary purpose of the funds is secular.

yep. modern-day confederates like rick wilson and neo-con warmongering thugs like calorie-hoarding george that make up the “Lincoln Project” deserve to be criticized for their anti-American, perpetual war-wanting, death-loving agenda

As much as I like the Lincoln Project, I think they are extremely out of touch. They consist of folks who are both conservative and elitist which represents a very small voter demographic. At the end of the day, it's pretty clear that there are very few conservatives who care about the underlying philosophies. Conservatives care about identity politics more than anything else.

Personally, I think elitism is great when it's truly based on merit and experience. I think the issue is that people equate elitism with superiority which shouldn't be the case. A nuclear physicist isn't "better" than a garbageman. However, we should heed the advice of nuclear physicists when they advise the public on policy. We've really lost our way as a country when it comes to these things.

These memes demonstrate that most people don't know how to interpret polling data and statistics. If your interpretation of 2016 is "the polls were wrong, therefore we shouldn't trust the polls anymore" then you're in for some big surprises. If Trump has a 16% chance of winning the election, it really shouldn't be a shocking event of epic proportions if he pulls out a win. That's like being surprised that someone dies in Russian roulette on the first try.

There were some awful models that were done. FiveThirtyEight has his chances going in at 23%, which is something that happens all the time. The NYT and the usual culprits pushed out ridiculous 99%+ figures with promises of a landslide.

Hey look! It's Round 2 of Ghot posts fake Twitter screenshots as though they're legit!

I know that you're not actually going to care that you post fake news, but I'm a petty homosexual who has nothing better to do. I went through all of HuffPost's Tweets on June 19th, and the Tweet you posted doesn't exist. No sites that archive deleted tweets have it either.

The link in the Tweet goes to a 404 page. The Tweet itself is merely a Photoshop'd copy of HuffPost's 2016 Tweet about Clinton and Trump.
