In order to maintain them you need to expend a bunch of CO2 through helicopters, replacing blades, etc. The bird graveyard that Trump said is 100% correct. Overall though, the cost in $ per MWH is just not feasible for real life.

As long as the CO2 from building and maintenance is less than the CO2 saved from not burning coal for the equivalent amount of energy then they are still an improvement, and will be an even greater improvement as more of the infrastructure to make them changes over to use them as a source of energy instead of fossil fuels.

Nuclear is indeed better, but all sources have their place in some way or another. No single energy source is a silver bullet to fixing climate change or providing energy.

It doesn't matter to Trump supporters. Trump does nothing wrong, ever.

It would be absolutely WILD to see Obama have done the same things, and to see the responses from resident Trump supporters.

because they have advantages and disadvantages that means they aren't universally good for every situaiton.

For instance, nuclear can provide a good baseline, but they are very hard to bring away from that baseline (it takes hours to change the output of a nuclear facility, they can't ramp very quickly), so you either 1) waste a ton of energy by having the nuclear plant constantly producing at the level of peak demand. or 2) supplement with other sources and use nuclear as a baseline, like solar to augment the system during the day when the energy demand is at its highest.
