they kept them out of the salem capitol a few weeks ago. how did this even happen. i heard on some news source "They didn't have time to properly secure the doors"

So this is actually going to be a contentious issue going forward. I mean obviously but even more so because someone in the chain of command made a conscious decision to use that staffing level despite an abundance of prior knowledge that this event could become dangerous. That's negligent to put it simply. It's irresponsible and as someone who served it infuriates me that those officers were put in that dangerous situation in the first place. The lack of manpower is one of the biggest reasons that law enforcement did not act aggressively. Those officers were scared and they decided to tread lightly. I would say they made a good decision because the whole event could have turned far more deadly.

I believe it established precedent that BLM and other left leaning protests can now be broken up peacefully. It's going to be a lot harder to defend use of force increases during left leaning protests now.

Also, these assholes were just allowed to leave without being arrested. Perhaps that was the right move strategically to get them out, but every effort should be made to hold them accountable legally.
