If we killed every member of the 1% their job would. be taken up immediately by others. You don't get to be in that position by being more qualified than the competition, you do by being lucky. There's equally qualified people waiting in the wings to take over when the opportunity arises. Additionally the top earners are increasingly making money by owning, not producing.
Even if I accepted what you are saying that doesn't mean the amount of reward is appropriate. There's no way to justify the huge level of reward currently happening.
Its 100% competition to get the position, and competition to work the system to shift yourself from 'producing' to 'owning'. Once you 'own', you have natural leverage, and life is bliss. Luck is for those born rich, all debts cleared when the big ticket job starts. For the other 99%, we compete for the coins 24/7/365.
How many cycles of 1% purge would it be until basic features of society are gone? Probably just 1. The fact is, not all jobs have ranks of qualified people waiting, and you have ignored job experience entirely which is HUGE is some fields, favored more than certifications and qualifications.
The 'owning' vs 'producing' equation is definitely messed up in the US, I'm just starting to get into managing an investment portfolio and minute trade crypto, very profitable endeavours, but there is no value for society when I figure out the ideal combination of RSI, MACD, BBands, etc to win a commodity buy/sell. This is the kind of crap the 1% is masterful at.
