/edit, fine, thank you.

by all accounts Netanyahu is the moderate in his party, are you suggesting another party will / may be in government in Israel ? after the terrorist attack by Hamas, surely this will bolster his party, not weaken it, accepted that some (%? unknown) people have, misgivings, about him. And what of the Palestinian leadership? this refers specifically to that of the West Bank, right? and is completely separate from Hamas? Its their spokesman in the UN or ? I see nothing to suggest a unified Palestinian authority, either now or in the future, which includes the ppl of gaza (wherever they may live in the future).
Afaik Netanyahu has extremely low approval ratings now. Not only from his personal vendetta against Israels judicial system, essentially a cult of personality where he sought to become a dictator/president for life style leader.
But for his massive failure in allowing an attack like 10/7 to happen on his watch.
He was known as "Mr Security" ironically. Just another example of authoritarian personality cults being utterly dreadful at miltary/security operation. Due to self absorption and lack of good intel akin to Putin or Chi purging those around them that bring "bad news" on anything.
I'm not well enough informed on Israels political parties. But 2 things are clear.
Firstly Netanyahu has been in and around power for decades, he has failed to bring peace and a future for the region.
Secondly his approval is so low, he will be gone before any lasting resolution can begin in earnest.
From what I understand the PLO are very ineffective in terms of having consensus of a majority of Palestinians.
Many Palestinians do see success for the PLO in terms of abolishing the state or Israel. Something that will not happen.
An unattainable goal.
Further Mahmoud Abbas is 87 years old. He is out of touch and generally weak.
When Palestinian leaders seek progress in negotiations it can never deliver what Palestinians believe they deserve which is the whole region become a single state of Palestine.
There needs to be a re evaluation of the possible goals of the Palestinian people in terms of statehood. A leader is needed who can communicate that position and find consensus wherever that position is between abolishing Israel and never having a Palestinian state.
