Youtube and other new media tend to overrepresent radical views from both sides of the aisles while centrist and moderate views are a rarity.
I really don't know if there are more subscribers to left- or right-wing political content on youtube.
Right wing, and not by a slim margin either. The best leftist channels are lucky to get a million subscribers while there are dozens of right wing channels with several millions if not tens of millions. Philosophy Tube is like the 2nd most subscribed left wing channel and it just got a million subs last month.
There's two big reasons for that
1. The right tends to peddle "outrage porn" more than the left, which drives engagement and drives the algorithm. See Tim Pool telling outright lies about "no go zones" and "being threatened with rocks" in Sweden.
2. The right tends to get billionaire backers.
Glenn Beck's entire platform was bankrolled for like a decade by the Kochs and I think still loses money, but I haven't checked in a while. Shapiro's growth was totally funded by his parents millionaire friends so he could spread right wing propaganda.
