based on religion? pretty sure Ireland does not have that.

But the law of return is pretty specifically religious, allowing for non-ethnic jews who practice judiasm, excluding ethnic jews who apostatize / convert, as well as excluding some of the more distant branches like messianics, again even if long rooted ethnic jews. How much it picks and chooses the boundaries of jewish religion has always been a controversy, it certainly allows for secular jews and orthodox alike.

OK so this is a good way to overcome the low population growth, but well, that leads to a lot of questions, 1st one being, just how many people have availed of this scheme since its inception. The answer google is spitting out is:

"As of 2021, 3,340,000 Jews have immigrated to Israel since its independence in 1948."

am I wrong or is that 1/2 of all jews in Israel?


Jews doesnt have low growth rate its the highest among western countries and even higher than the arabs.

The reason for the law of return is simply jewish sanctuary.

No, Jews have sub ethnic groups
I dont know about converts really

In what sense. I mean between emigration and natural births theres still less jews alive today that pre WW2 while Palestinians had quadratic population growth, and its still about equal number of jews in israel and the US
