A few things:
The "Flight 93"ism is apparent in your response. In other words, the stakes are so high and the enemy is so evil, that it requires the right to put aside morality, honor, or whatever else, and embrace dishonor and immorality. I guess that's an argument, but it's not really disputing anything in the article. If anything, it's confirming the article.
But I disagree of course. First, I don't think the stakes are that high, or the enemy is that evil. The majority of the country is not Republican, and the vast majority are perfectly fine people who want a good life for themselves and their families. That includes politicians. And there's very important issues at stake in politics. The social/cultural leftism is the main reason why I'll never be a Democrat. I hate the abortion and gender ideology extremism of the left. But we're a democracy, and we're a civilized people. We can handle these issues without dishonor, cruelty, or immorality. Second, as a Catholic Christian, I can't advocate "doing evil so that good may come of it". It's expressly forbidden, but I understand many Trumpists don't agree with Christian morality. Third, I don't know that it's a good political strategy. The Republican party would do better electorally if it stopped acting cruel and insane. There's nothing inherent about populist policy which requires embracing cruelty, fascism, or authoritarianism, but maybe you disagree.
How would your description of Cheney differ from someone like Lindsey Graham? Why is there no concerted effort to destroy him? It's not about her policy viewpoints, it's about her opposition to Trump's attempt to end American democracy. This is obvious, I don't know(actually, I do know) why Trumpists have to pretend otherwise.
The rest is more "the stakes are high and the enemy is evil", so we're going to act like fascist authoritarians, purge the government of non-Trumpists, and insert conspiratorial lunatics into government. Once again, you're basically confirming the author's points, lol. You're just trying to explain why you can get behind this insanity.
