Don't you live in Germany?
Yes. So?
Doesn't mean I can't inform myself on trends in the U.S., or hear about them from friends and colleagues living in the States.
Additionally, I'm experiencing the exact same political trends here in Germany. I'm living in the state of Bavaria, which is essentially the Texas of Germany:
largest state by area, second largest by population, a booming economy, used to be deeply conservative - but fueled by demographic change as well as massive amounts of in-migration from more liberal parts of the country, state politics are starting to change. Particularly the bigger cities are flipping from the conservatives to the parties of limousine liberals and wokesters.
Pretty much every political, economic or ideological macro-trend that popped up in the United States over the past 60 years has eventually also arrived in Western Europe. Despite the numerous and significant differences between the countries, a look at what's happening in American politics today is a sneak peek into the political future of my own country.
