Despite an overwhelming amount of evidence to the contrary on this forum, Germans can be correct sometimes.
This is one of those times.

Don't you live in Germany?

Yes. So?
Doesn't mean I can't inform myself on trends in the U.S., or hear about them from friends and colleagues living in the States.

Additionally, I'm experiencing the exact same political trends here in Germany. I'm living in the state of Bavaria, which is essentially the Texas of Germany:
largest state by area, second largest by population, a booming economy, used to be deeply conservative - but fueled by demographic change as well as massive amounts of in-migration from more liberal parts of the country, state politics are starting to change. Particularly the bigger cities are flipping from the conservatives to the parties of limousine liberals and wokesters.

Pretty much every political, economic or ideological macro-trend that popped up in the United States over the past 60 years has eventually also arrived in Western Europe. Despite the numerous and significant differences between the countries, a look at what's happening in American politics today is a sneak peek into the political future of my own country.

I just find it interesting how much time, energy, and effort you put into staying abreast on the happenings of the US. Maybe it's a German thing to be Americanophile given your and Fender's posting.

I've just got too much time on my hands, I guess. While working, I often times have to wait somewhere between 10 minutes and 3 hours for a run of my models and simulations to wrap up and come back from the server farm before I can continue, so there's plenty of downtime.

And American politics has this weird, Game of Thrones or House of Cards like entertainment value while German politics is usually boring and depressing as fuck. ;)

But that's the thing: all those California liberals are fleeing from their home state to Texas or Arizona or even Florida because the high taxes and ugly consequences of shitty lefty policies become too much to bear - and then they try to politically empower exactly the same shitty lefty policies in their new state once again.

yeah i dont like people like that:

brag about how they are so enlightened (most of them are pale pasty privileged lefties born into privilege i’ll never have)
fuck up their home state by their voting decisions/politics
rage quit cuz it sucks
move
rinse repeat

I think that's a myth though. At least in the Texas case, natives are more liberal than the immigrants to Texas. For the most part, the people fleeing CA tend to be right-wing.
