If we had adequate sexual education as part of our school system this might have some merit, but we still have states that teach religiously slanted abstinence only.

the expected racist dogwhistling and braindead over-simplifications aside, the best way to prevent unwanted pregnancies are comprehensive sex education and easy access to birth control / health care.

no points for guessing who, in addition to opposing women's choice, also opposes those things... far right religious fundamentalists...

there are multiple factors to this, but a fact based sexual education would be a decent start for sure

This Texas abortion law would not even allow girls who were raped to get an abortion. It's pure and total bullshit and far too radical.

Likewise, it's baffling how the Supreme Court refused to block this law which is an engregious and blatant violation of the current federal jurisprudence surrounding abortion (Roe v. Wade, Casey v. Planned Parenthood).
If the consevative majority on the Supreme Court wants to relitigate these federal abortion laws, they are free to do that - but not by ignoring a brazen violation of applicable law.


So yes, this Texas law is pure bullshit, as is the SCOTUS reaction to it.
Nonetheless, at the same time, it is also completely ridiculous and deluded to compare Texas Republicans with the Taliban.
