not entirely true my friend. they love al gore, clooney, obama, gates, zuckerberg etc. (all owners of exclusive oceanfront properties when they are citing rising sea levels as a major issue)

This silly dick measuring contest between vain billionaires was not space exploration nor did it put humanity forward. Space exploration is a great thing. Space tourism geared toward the top 0.0001% is not.
If Branson/Bezos/Musk wanted to help push humanity forward and into space, they should have given the funding to NASA, or used it to create some sort of private space agency, rather than waste it on suspiciously phallic-looking rockets to launch themselves into space.
I'll let Musk pass in this regard since his SpaceX program has made a tangible contribution to space travel, but Branson and Bezos can get fucked.
there are a lot of things that you might consider bs at first, but it ends up being useful
projects like these help providing easier access to space, you cant expect it being a town bus ticket from the start
doing things that have never been done before, thats how we move forward
automobiles started as a top 1% thing with plenty of people thinking that we should stick with horses
