Do Republicans oppose a living wage? I was under the impression that they oppose cumbersome and ineffective wage floors.

When you examine the empirical data on minimum wage it shows either no effect, or a small increase in employment. So no, they don't oppose cumbersome and ineffective wage floors. So no, that can't be the explanation.

It's a retarded comparison regardless because what a living wage in the US is nowhere near what it means in Cuba or most other communist countries. Living wage that people are demanding here is kind of misleading, a more accurate definition or demand is middle-class wage.

Definition of a living wage here is 2 bedroom place, car, health insurance, wholesome meals, going out money, vacation money, etc meanwhile there people are just trying to be able to afford basic things like electricity and food like rice and meat once a week, living in a 1940's building in a slum taking a trolley to some shit job.

You realize you just compared a living wage to a bare subsistence wage as if they were equal, right? Being barely able to afford the basics isn't a living wage, regardless of the country or economic system.
