before i had kids i never got people saying they didnt want children, now i get it. i'm just more curious what insight they got into how incredibly difficult raising a child is to form their opinion.

i was asked recently "what the worst part about being a parent", i replied that its admitting to myself that all of the hacky lines by parents like "get you sleep in now" or "just wait" that i rolled my eyes at and thought "ya but they're bad parents" were actually right.

as rewarding as a child is they're a black hole for time and energy. i wouldnt change a thing, but i get 100% people not wanting to give up their independence.

Independence is code word for self indulgence. The only reason why you are here is because your parents felt a certain way about the priority of children.
