tbh tinder just does 2 things:

1. picky, shallow, and shitty people show their true colors in DMs before a date, rather than on it.
2. polygamy that was already running rampant in a post 1990s sexual awakening culture is now forward and admitted behavior.

any noteworthy changes are on the margin imo, or offset by the successful relationships it does foster. i know lots of people that have met on tinder or similar sites that are now married or in longterm committed relationships.

I agree with some of this. I think the drop in marriage rate definitely shows that the minuses outweigh the pluses though.

The only reason why men or women “show their true colors” before a date is because it works on a lot of suitors. Those anecdotal cases of success also don’t say whether or not the relationships would have been better or worse if tinder wasn’t the progenitor.
