De Blasio has seen race tensions get worse under his leadership than any point since 91, and it was just a few months ago black nationalists went on a terrorist spree slaughtering jews while crowds of average folks gathered to scream death to jews
He had the option of at least navigating this funeral gathering issue more tactfully, you know, by going through the orthodox community leaders and getting them to stand side by side with him (in masks preferably). Instead he literally tweeted a message to the jews "The time for warnings has passed, wir müssen die Juden ausrotten"

Put those two ideas together and what do you get?

Many people who heard the farmer talking about empty grocery store shelves probably subconsciously thought to themselves "oh that could never happen here. Empty store shelves are just a thing we hear about from the USSR". It violates our wiring to try and wrap our heads around that scenario becoming a reality in August 2020. On the other hand, it's very easy for our brains to comprehend a person getting sick and dying in a hospital. That is something that many of us have experienced, possibly first-hand or at least heard someone close to us talking about it. We know how real that possibility is. Therefore, it becomes very easily for people to criticize the idea of "sacrificing lives for the economy". To them, 'the economy' is some sort of mythical intangible entity. But to that farmer, whose daily life consists of pushing the levers on the economy, it's easy for him to visualize how many months away we are form having empty store shelves.

This puts politicians in a tough position. Saying things that they know will be unpopular is damaging to their careers. Nearly all politicians (with one notable exception) bristle at the idea of saying something they know is not going to sound bad when the media replays the clip to the public. Therefore, the current system of politics and media is fine-tuned to stifle amy unpopular truth.

Yuck. I hate animal experimentation. I worked in a meat department and that was rough enough for me...even knowing those animals were not tortured and i didn't witness their deaths.

When it comes to food I'm sure glad its someone else who does the killing. And if you're a killer, the best way to get that energy off is probably within our food supply system
