what are you even on about, you crazy person? i found that meme browsing imgur, and the message it conveys is pretty clear to me: highlighting a current issue, by pointing to a historical injustice everyone can easily identify. just to be clear, IF someone used this to justify stalin's reign of terror, when criminal justice and incarceration wasn't even the topic of the discussion, i'll be the first one to call out how pointing to the US is a lazy whataboutism, and that two injustices don't make a justice. that's not the case though, the only people triggered and desperate to frame it that way were right wingers desperate to deflect from the shameful FACTS concerning a country that loves to brand itself as the "land of the free™".
