I'm a native american, and taking all our resources and raping my people then telling us we have to earn dollars to earn it back is essentially my perspective.

Yes, it's idealistic bullshit. But, at least it's not narcissistic, materialistic bullshit.

Kind of entitled bullshit. You're hardly ever paying corporations for raw materials ever. You can consider the price attributed to most items as a refinement and processing fee. And as far as everyone owning the same item? You may as well state no one owns such item. Groups don't make decisions, they come to a consensus. Only individuals can make decisions and impact the world around them. Only individuals can exercise the ownership of tangible goods.

As far as the conquering and subsequent near genocide of the Native American people is concerned, might makes right and territorial conquest was not a unique facet of American colonization, nor were these foreign concepts to the indigenous populations. These things are always unfortunate when looking back, but were rather standard for the time.

Methods of unitary accounting (attributing dollar values to tangible goods), ending the notion of communal ownership of resources, and exchanging the goods in a market economy were all necessary and positive developments in the production and consumption of goods. They are the most effective methods of utility maximization we had at the time and, I believe, for the moment.

what if I told you there was a way to keep track of people's disproportionate use of resources and their disproportionate production of more resources?

Your resources? Weren't you just decrying ownership of natural resources?
