You are reimagining the sentence.
"We can pass $2000 relief checks." --> Passing $2000 checks is possible.
"But we have to win this Senate election." --> But is the operative word. Sending out the checks is contingent on winning the Senate election.
The claim was not "we will fight hard for this", because he clearly could have said that. He promised it as a deliverable that would immediately follow the election. Whether incompetence or deceit, it doesn't really matter. Georgia voted for a result and didn't get it.
you're imagining things. you clearly don't know what "can" means (democrats can indeed make this happen, but they are looking to get your beloved republicans on board for the sake of "unity"), and nowhere does it say "immediately", learn to read. just to be clear, this is not me making excuses for corporate / establishment dems. they are trash (there is no "unity" with traitors, and they only "compromise" because their donors wouldn't want those checks to go to the people), and that obviously includes biden, but you can't deny that your only chance for those checks are indeed some democrats (progressives like bernie and aoc, to be specific), while republicans opposed them all the way.

man, that guy... imagine thinking joking about it would make it less scummy, as if you could play it off like the trip and your countless lies about it weren't a major political and personal fuck ups. he's so tone deaf, it's unbelievable...
