why would you post that? it completely destroys the right wing "biden promised to send everyone $2,000 on day one" narrative and shows what (obvious to everyone with a working brain) democrats actually said: if republicans win, you will never see another direct stimulus / relief payment (and republicans have indeed opposed it every step of the way, as you'd know if you followed politics somewhat closely), while we will fight to make it happen. your only chance is voting democrat.

obviously a lot of corporate / establishment dems are open to the "concerns" of republicans and willing to "compromise", but it's clear that if republicans had remained in control of the senate, no one would even be talking about checks anymore at this point...

You're twisting logic like a pretzel. The implied argument by this campaign tweet from Ossoff was not "vote for Republicans and you're never seeing covid relief, vote for me and you will mayyyyybe perhaps get them if the stars align; we'll try our best".
Instead, he was very clearly insinuating that Democrats will pass $2000 checks if voters equip them with a majority in the Senate. Which is what voters did, yet everyone is still waiting on the stimulus checks.

Democrats during the campaign: "give us power so we can deliver for you"
Voters: *gives Democrats the power they requested*
Democrats after the election: *pokerface*

You are reimagining the sentence.

"We can pass $2000 relief checks." --> Passing $2000 checks is possible.

"But we have to win this Senate election." --> But is the operative word. Sending out the checks is contingent on winning the Senate election.

The claim was not "we will fight hard for this", because he clearly could have said that. He promised it as a deliverable that would immediately follow the election. Whether incompetence or deceit, it doesn't really matter. Georgia voted for a result and didn't get it.

you guys do know that user is part of the belief system which used the book “my struggle” to justify the third reich. of course re-imagining reality is part and parcel for that user

you're imagining things. you clearly don't know what "can" means (democrats can indeed make this happen, but they are looking to get your beloved republicans on board for the sake of "unity"), and nowhere does it say "immediately", learn to read. just to be clear, this is not me making excuses for corporate / establishment dems. they are trash (there is no "unity" with traitors, and they only "compromise" because their donors wouldn't want those checks to go to the people), and that obviously includes biden, but you can't deny that your only chance for those checks are indeed some democrats (progressives like bernie and aoc, to be specific), while republicans opposed them all the way.

man, that guy... imagine thinking joking about it would make it less scummy, as if you could play it off like the trip and your countless lies about it weren't a major political and personal fuck ups. he's so tone deaf, it's unbelievable...

Biden, Pelosi and Schumer could easily make it happen - if they passed a lean bill which is focused on the covid checks and not much else. But instead, they loaded the covid relief bill with metric shittons of pork and non-covid related items from the liberal wishlist. Now, they are trying to use the misery of ordinary Americans to create political pressure which allows them to ram through non-covid related parts of their agenda under the pretense of "would somebody think of the children ailing Americans?"

For example, Sinema and Manchin being opposed to raising the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour is not what's causally standing between ordinary Americans and the $2000 $1400 checks - having put such an unrelated issue into the covid bill in the first place is the original sin in this saga.

a republican shill complaining about pork... this is... just mindblowing. again, in theory i'm with you about biden, pelosi, and schumer, and how they COULD indeed make this happen if they really wanted to. coming from you of all people, however, i can't help but laugh about the pearl clutching, considering what mcconnell and friends have been doing for ages, INCLUDING covid relief bills. the hypocrisy is reaching levels no one could ever have imagined... you people really know no shame...
