Democrats think they can start winning statewide races in Texas at some point during the coming decade; and even if they cant, they still need to win as many House seats as possible in TX to retain their majority in the chamber. Even a hypothetical petty, vindictive president could not afford to antagonize Texas, it's just too big and too purple to be pushed around like that.
