CNN was deliberately downplaying and covering up violence which was inconvenient to their political cause. Covering the violence and destruction occurring in the wake of the BLM protests faithfully would have diminished the potency of the movement - a movement whose goals CNN and its staff supported on ideological grounds, and whose partisan effects (gin up black turnout, discredit Trump) they welcomed.
The best you can say is they downplayed it. They didn't cover anything up. Unless you think a picture with a burning car is covering up.
Meanwhile Fox actively lied about the events on Jan 6th.
The two outlets are in no way comparable in their degree of dishonesty on these subjects. Fox knowingly lied while texting Trump to call off the rioters in real time.
