yep, no possible good can come from that twisted logic in their statement. same with politicians now trying to jack the nuclear codes, force the 25th amendment, or force a rushed impeachment/senate trial. all horrible abuses of power in their own right.
I mean, what Trump did that day was completely inexcusable and he should no longer be President. The fact that PENCE had to be the one to activate the National Guard is fucking insane. I imagine that Pence and the Cabinet told Trump that they have the votes and to just chill out at Camp David for the rest of his term. They appealed to his ego.
Personally, him resigning would have been the best thing to do because it would be out of his own volition. However, that apparently has zero chance of happening because Trump doesn't believe he did anything wrong. There is less accountability with the 25th Amendment and probably a shit ton of legal challenges so impeachment is the best option from here. It forces elected officials to be accountable to their constituents and they will have to take responsibility for their actions. If Republicans get voted out for voting to remove, so be it! If Republicans get voted out for NOT voting to remove, so be it! Congress needs to grow some balls.
