Like I said, Trump gets credit for what he did, just as Obama gets credit for what he did. Trump inherited an Afghan war that was winding down. He chose to increase troop levels, and couldn't figure out how to end the war in 4 years. He then lowered troop levels and struck a diplomatic deal(that didn't include the Afghan government, and it wasn't a treaty) that any warm body in the Oval Office could've gotten. Sure, maybe Trump would've followed through on pulling out in May, but it doesn't matter, because he lost.

At this point I'm just repeating myself. Biden has no obligation to honor the deal Trump struck. That's not the way foreign policy works between administrations. He could maintain the status quo of the Trump presidency, which is to maintain a residual force. He could increase troop levels. He's ending the war, something Trump failed to do.

You are repeating yourself because you are having a hard time acknowledging that it is a dumb thing to say.

If you want to criticize how Trump ended the war, you are welcome to do so. But what you are arguing is that Biden deserves credit for "ending the war", while simultaneously blaming Trump for "failing to end the war", when in reality, Trump negotiated an end to war last year and Biden entered office with the withdrawal in place and imminent. You are avoiding any sort of context because your narrative doesn't hold up to any sort of scrutiny.

Biden had no obligation to continue the vaccine roll-out plan. But that obviously does not mean that the Biden administration deserves substantial credit for developing or rolling out the vaccines. He does deserve credit for not screwing up the situation, as he deserves credit here, but because "not screwing up" a fait accompli is a very easy thing to do, the amount of credit due is very small.

I've acknowledged the context multiple times. I think a president who entered office dead set on ending the Afghan war could've done so in 4 years. Rand Paul would've gotten it done. So yes, Trump deserves criticism for not getting it done in one term. If I was still an anti-war libertarian, I would've been disappointed that Trump didn't get it done. And Biden deserves credit for making the decision to end the war. It was an easier call because Trump lowered troop levels and struck the mediocre peace agreement with the Taliban, nevertheless, Biden is the one who is ending it.

I don't know enough about the vaccine rollout. It would've been a perfectly status quo move for Biden to delay the withdrawal date to get a better deal with the Taliban. The political cost of doing that wouldn't have been high, whereas if the Taliban starts taking over cities after we leave, he'll get a load of shit from the foreign policy blob, cable news pundits, Republicans in Congress, etc.

Anyway, go ahead and take the last word. When Trump supporters are debating whether Biden should get credit for doing something they wish Trump would've accomplished earlier, Biden is winning.

if Biden didnt take a hands off approach to the vaccine rollout the right would claim he's overreaching and infringing state's rights.

the rollout has gone well, finger pointing is just needless politics for its own sake in this context imo.

Remember the headlines and all the graphs that most of the MSM was spamming in the Fall and Summer? Basically, painting the US as one of the worst handlers of the virus?

Fast forward 6 months. US corporations were first to develop a vaccine. The US vaccine rollout has been one of the fastest with us swamping both Europe and Canada (2 regions that were constantly pointed to as doing better!)

Trump might have fumbled the first few months of COVID and he received more than his fair share of the blame but I wonder if objective minds are going to give him the credit that's due for operation warp speed.

Ikr. I hated Trump but people claiming Biden did all those things when he only collected the result of Trumps effort is laughable at best. The border Crisis is Biden problem and the results will be Biden effort. If a result there is.

Trump made covid so much worse by leading an anti-mask movement. He fumbled covid so bad he lost an easy election.

Giving trump credit for Biden's work/10

Biden been doing so well Fox can only complain about a lack of press conferences lol.

If you give Trump credit for covid response since he has been out of office you can at least be a nonhypoctitical fake person and give trump credit for the border as it stands. It would at least be consistent.

Subtract operation warp speed and what changes exactly? Like, having guaranteed order flow is great, I think we ordered like 100m doses of several different vaccines, but would a pharmaceutical company developing a vaccine for the world's current #1 priority is guaranteed order flow already.

while i agree, American corporations, American government, and American citizens are 3 separate entities. each open to praise or scorn for their behavior.

Trump's messaging was bad, Trump's bad messaging was all to easy for too many dirt bags to accept, and corporations did what we expect them to, outclass the world.

even if Trump's messaging was good, and he sold 2020 maga masks, and called lockdowns an ok thing, still we'd have rednecks disobeying, saying he was just playing a part out for the MSM but really no masks and gas wide open is the way. and corporations still would have made vaccines. this might be the biggest cash grab ever for pharma companies.

Biden didn't have much to do when he took office to achieve success in handling covid. The vaccine was already developed and working, with that news conveniently being released right after the election (literally a few days later).

The infrastructure & planning of deploying was also already put in place. When he took over in January, he basically took the baton handoff and didn't trip over himself as we as a country are closing in on the finish line.
