Personally, I think Ukraine was substantially worse than this but that's not particularly relevant at the moment. The GOP playbook is to find a fact or two that's in their favor, ignore the big picture, and then hammer that small set of facts to create a false narrative that is at odds with the big picture. Because Americans are largely incapable of seeing the big picture, this strategy works REALLY well. It worked with impeachment, the Mueller report, etc.

I fully expect a lot of "leaks" after Trump is officially dragged out of the White House. There's going to be a surge of people trying to prove they weren't Nazis by ratting on their fellow Nazis.

As things stand, virtually any GOP politician who will have to win further primaries in the future and publicly turns on Trump will commit career suicide. You will see some of it from two types of Republicans: those with a strong brand and power base, like Mitt Romney or Charlie Baker, and those who are career bureaucrat rather than elected officials - but it's not gonna happen in the quantity you are hoping for.
