I can't give him a pass on this as a mistake. He lied about very specific things that no reasonable person could have mistaken. He gave a very colorful description of how the white kids were antagonizing and threatening the poor defenseless black guys. He specifically ascribed their motivation to racism and said they were violent, and that the only reason for attacking the black guys was the color of their skin. Its not like he was just dryly speculating based on a limited observation, he was saying he knew what was in their hearts and said the black guys were their 'prey' and thought it would have wound up with the kids violently assaulting them if he hadn't stepped in.

It takes more to produce an interview like that then mere ignorance and prejudice. Race baiting like that doesn't come easy

And, free speech isn't limitless. You can't use free speech to attempt to rile others up and incite violence.
Thats a crime. I'm not sure if this really crossed that line fully. But other people can make that call.

Thankfully there is enough evidence for court if there is. But at the least they've created an atmosphere, for confrontations to take place.
