Lots of service in the past year or two has fallen in quality biggggggggg time. Nobody takes pride in an honest days work anymore. Just want the paycheck to sit and stand around all day on the phone. Maybe they can answer a question for a customer or two or say hi to one. Like do they even know where the check comes from

yesterday at the grocery store they had 1 checkout line open other than self check. so i walked up to a manager and asked if they could open another line, she said she didnt have any more cashiers. i asked, can u cashier? the line was like 15 people long..... she sighed and said yes. like wtf u doing lady? she was just standing there. then she says i need to bag for myself, so i asked if there were any stock workers she could call up. she sighed, and called one up.
if there were 2 people in line, fine. w/e. but uve got a 30 min wait just to check out and ur gonna stand and watch? fuck off lady. as i walked off i turned and said, "ur lane light is off". she gave me a dirty look and turned it on.
fat bitch just wants people to self check.... like i get it, they have 5 people just doing drive up orders running around like mad. but a long line is a long line....
Mostly comes down to not getting paid shit. If I'm making $20 an hour at walmart I'm gonna be working to keep that job. If I'm making $12 an hour during a pandemic I'm doing the bare minimum since I can just go to the gas station down the street and get paid the same for sitting at the register and ringing people out all day.
Pay like shit, get shit workers.
My mom's job at an RCF pays like $8.50 an hour and expects people to be available 24/7, and she constantly complains about nobody staying longer than a few weeks, and the ones who do stay are absolute crap. Like, yeah, you aren't even paying a living wage for rural missouri where trailors are $300 a month.
