So if the effort to hobble Trump was simply about prolonging wars and not partisanship against a reckless president, I suppose we'll see a similar effort on the Democrat side again?

Kind of a galaxy brain take that the political party that just announced we're leaving Afghanistan is the party of war, but okay.

Democrats abandoned their principle of being anti-war a while back when Obama spent years droning 3rd world plebs and various 'possible' terrorists and arming al-Nustra.

As far as their opposition to Trump withdrawing troops, it was all purely to resist which is pretty disgusting if you ask me. Politicians purposefully opposing troops coming and saving taxpayer dollars simply because they hate a sitting president? You didn't care about it though, foaming at the mouth over mean tweets consumed your attention.

That's a big "if".

Can you point out where I spun this in partisan terms? Trump promised to end stupid wars... he had 4 years in office. He failed to end the Afghanistan war. There's always various timelines inherited, but every president makes the decision whether to stay or pull out. Trump decided to stay, Biden is deciding to pull out. Trump couldn't get it done in 4 years, Biden is going to get it done in less than 1. Inconvenient facts are not partisan spin.

If the argument is that Biden is copying Trump's plans, but actually putting them into action, wouldn't it make sense for you guys to be Biden supporters?

everyone knows you're purely partisan. you said you would vote for any (D) candidate, even if it were the devil himself, to 'punish republicans'

the deadline to withdraw was set on May 1 - before biden took office. he has delayed it four months for no reason https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/13/biden-plans-to-withdraw-us-forces-from-afghanistan-by-sept-11.html

President Joe Biden will withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September, missing a crucial May 1 deadline that was brokered by the Trump administration.

fairly sure most of us here want the President to succeed. it's good for the country. if biden or any other swamp demons copies Trump's political moves and said moves continue to be a success then so be it. whether it be diplomacy or vaccine rollouts - speaking of which biden said we did not have covid-19 vaccines available when he took office despite being on camera getting the first dose last year (so exactly wtf was he injected with?)
you're the one who rooted for the President to fail for 12 years during the Obama and Trump administrations so no one's buying your faux pro-America stance now.

Since when did Democrats before Obama have a principle of being anti-war? Believe it or not, some people have views on armed conflict more nuanced than simply "for all" or "against all".

At the end of the day, a Democratic president ended the Iraq war, and now another Democratic president is ending the Afghanistan war. Bush started both of them, and Trump decided he would rather tweet than get things done.

Is this what Trump campaigned on? Since when does "I'm going to end stupid wars" become "I'm going to tweet and watch tv all day for four years and leave the decision of whether to withdrawal from wars up to my Democratic successor". Lmao.

Trump planned a withdrawal date of May. Biden assumes office in January and says "later than May", and you want to give him credit?

You can't be serious.

no new engagements was an incredible feat. we haven't had that since the 1970s. we know it made you very upset given your 4-year temper tantrum and begging for WWIII. as for ending the Afghanistan conflict, the troop count was winded down during Trump's administration as to set the stage for a proper exit. that is called military strategy. biden and the swamp are best served following this strategy even if they're mucking it the timeline already.

pulling out immediately yielded disastrous consequences in Iraq - the very war that biden and the swamp voted for. two big mistakes there. we don't want any repeats of these disasters.

definitely is serious. as to be expected from a pure partisan who would vote for hitler or mao if they had a (D) next to their name, all to 'punish republicans for a few cycles'

Do I want to give credit to the president who will end the Afghanistan war his first year in office, and not the president who kept troops there for 4 years and set a withdrawal date that his successor could just ignore?

Uh, yeah, obviously. You're being obtuse.

You know that troops are exclusively under the control of the president right?

Like, he's the highest guy in the army.

So it's literally impossible to hold him up from removing troops.

You know that right? Like, you took fourth grade civics right?

Bad trolling. You know full well that a president is still constrained by political realities, even if he's - on paper - given unilateral power to do something.
Democrats and the swamp indeed did their best to drum up as much resistance to Trump's troop withdrawal plans as possible, on Capitol Hill, from within military leadership and from their numerous allies in the mainstream media.

Trump couldnt get it done because the political forces you support and like so much (corporate Democrats and the old, pre-2016 GOP establishment) moved heaven and earth to stop him.

And just for the record: had Trump invoked his authority as commander in chief to ram through this withdrawal against opposition from Congress, parts of the top generals, most of the MSM and virtually all of the swampy consultant-operative class in DC, you would not have congratulated him on ending a war and keeping a campaign promise. No, you would have been the first to accuse him of being an authoritarian, undemocratic, cheap impersonation of a banana-republic-dictator who's recklessly and selfishly putting America's safety on the line just to check off a campaign promise.

Nice excuses. And here I live in a world where Trump was supposed to be an outsider getting things done that the establishment didn't want.

In reality Trump was pretty much nearly completely ineffective at getting his agenda done. Your excuses don't change that.

Oh wow he had resistance? Thats so unexpected for a president! Yeah all presidents have that. The fact that he had 4 years and didn't get out means he didn't care. He had plenty of time in a domain where he had total control.

What potential engagements were there? I can't recall any obvious ones.
