So true. This has been an endemic problem in Western society. My worldview is that it is rooted in sin, specifically the sin of envy, which has been iterated in the Bible as perhaps the most insidious & destructive sin (The killing of Abel by Cain was precisely for the same reasons - hating someone who is successful)
