so was Hunter put on a board despite having zero qualifications or value to Burisma? or was he put there to mastermind a sales boost to the UK?
maybe im missing something here. clearly there must be some election swaying corruption in all of this, otherwise it would be silly to put all your eggs into this basket for weeks on end.
this is just a Benghazi 2.0, but even floppier. not gonna change shit and mostly fizzle.
the TLDR postcard version is that Hunter Biden & Co were looting wealth from Ukraine after overthrowing the government and subjugating the oligarchy, while being bribed for political influence by the Chinese businessmen and communist party elite.
Burisma had no
need for hooks in the US government or international protection when it was being run by Russian-aligned oligarchs. Then the elected government got toppled in a coup and replaced with US/EU-aligned populists who ordered the arrest of the Russian-aligned oligarchs and made them flee the country while seizing control of their business (its quite a bit more complicated and messy, as Zlochevsky tried to straddle the east-west divide and appease the US and return, while domestic politics muddied up who aligned with what side, and his daughter was his surrogate).
But its not a coincidence that shortly after Euromaidan, while Zlochevsky was in exile, the board of Burisma Group was expanded to include Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, Joseph Cofer Black (a CIA head and Blackwater merc) and Aleksander Kwaśniewski, former president of Poland.
I don't think there's any world where a Russia-aligned Burisma would have gone out and paid millions to some completely unqualified cokehead son of a US vice president just to get some influence. Why would they? They'd get nothing out of that. But once Zlochevsky had his estate raided and company seized and was in exile, gee, he suddenly was willing to butter up the occupiers.
These are complicated geopolitical maneuvers, backroom deals, corrupt enterprises and dark money being routed through opaque shell corporations. We still know only bits and pieces of who was doing what and why. Even the loyalties and political alignments are often murky. But the gist of it is pretty obvious, the Euromaidan coup saw Russian interest in Ukraine overthrown and replaced by Western interests, and Russia retaliated by both supporting Crimean independence and stepping up their support for Assad in the Syrian war to hoist a wave of refugees into the EU. And boy did Obama fuck that one up
My ironic gripe out of all of this is that supposedly progressive, enlightened liberals turn into complete foaming at the mouth jingoists blind to the sins of America when it comes to Ukraine, and we wind up with patriotic hawks with a hard-on for interventionalism like Eric Ciaramella. Maybe if Ukrainians were black lmao
