The pandemic was no longer a huge factor for the economy since roughly the summer of 2021. Biden had 3 years to recover the economy. (And of course neither the situation at the Southern border nor the multiple foreign policy crises are explained or excused by the pandemic.)

And yes, some degree of deficit spending and some degree of inflation were inevitable post-pandemic. But Biden's policies made things actively worse. Inflation in the US in January 2022 (the last month before the war in Ukraine) stood 2-2.5% higher than in Europe. And right now, in 2024, it's higher than Europe yet again, although Europe had gotten hit much harder from the fallout of the Ukraine war on the energy markets in between.



Just for the record: I'm not saying, and never claimed, that Trump handled the pandemic well. Neither the public health portion of it, nor the economic impact. It is still an obvious and undisputable fact that January 2021, which by chance happened to be the month his term ended, is the worst possible cutoff date in terms of the economic statistics of a presidential term.

My preference for Trump over Biden isn't based on covid policy. Covid is no longer a factor for 2025-2028. Also, both doing a shitty job on covid doesn't automatically imply that they were equally shit. Like I said before: if Biden/Democrats had been in charge in 2020, we would have had even more lockdowns, an even worse economy, even more inflation and even more children with learning deficits from school closures.
