I read a thread on twitter yesterday regarding the attitudes of these people towards Trump vs Obama. The theory was that the reason why the House and Senate republicans, and trump supporters in general, are ok with Trump breaking basic norms and traditions in politics is to display the image of white supremacy. Where Obama would get criticized and blocked, trump would get promoted and praised.

All to maintain the illusion that the white man is still on top - even more so after nearly a decade of getting told what to do by a black man.

I really hope Biden picks a black woman as his VP.

Am I the only one thinking that Biden might lose to Trump in 2020, but would have defeated him handily in 2016?
At the same time, we know that Hillary lost in 2016, but I've come to the conclusion that she would have defeated him decisively in 2020 (had she not run in 2016 and thus entered the 2020 race without the stigma of being a loser).

It's like the Democrats picked the wrong candidate at the wrong time - twice in a row.

I think right on count #1 but wrong on count #2. I don't think Hillary would have become any less toxic a candidate in those 4 years

no, but 200k deaths and the worst recession in history would have gotten her over the hump. Trump only narrowly won in 2016, and in large part because a ton of reluctant voters gave him the benefit of the doubt. I cant imagine the same having happened in the face of 30m+ unemployed, a badly mishandled public health crisis and gaping budget holes.

Any other administration would face the same difficulties the Trump administration is facing now.

Blame Trump for the lock down and job losses? We saw the protests develop. Have no lock down you get blamed for not caring for the population.

It's the same shitty situation all over the world, and all countries try to find a balance but they too are facing gaping budget holes and looming recession.

Who said that blame would be distributed fair?
Carter and Bush sr. also got punished hard at the ballot box for an economic downturn they werent responsible for.

And when it comes to the public health side of things, the Trump administration did fuck up pretty badly. State actors also contributed plenty, for example in New York where the long-running feud between De Blasio and Cuomo butchered the state response, but the federal government was not helping.

Would a democratic administration not have similar issues with state actors? Is it not simply the underlying structure that's to blame?

Trump on memorial day: Golf, spread misinformation on twitter, and insult people , to honor our dead.

Keep it classy Trumpets.
