I see no reason to

I know why he would but I don't see it being worth it (but that also doesn't mean it's a bad move)

she's fine as an individual but she won't do shit for the ticket or change the situation much at all

personally I don't think she'll ever get to where she could have if the timeline lined up for her better. I dunno what she wants to do but I highly doubt she'll ever be President or VP.

it depends. if Trump, and 'trumpism' with him, is harshly rejected in 2020, then I see Haley as the type of leader the party establishment would naturally gravitate to.

if Trump is reelected and his 2nd term is not an outright disaster (*cough* GWB *cough*), then 'trumpism' will clearly be the way forward for the GOP and someone like Haley probably has no future in it.

I thought Haley said she wasn't going to participate in the 2020 election... intimating that she might in 2024?

And although I love her... fire, etc., I'm not sure the GOP is ready for her yet. I'm also not sure she is ready for the number one slot. Number two or three... yeah... number one, I'm not sure she could handle the utter BS she would have to deal with.

Not sure an Indian woman will pander to white identity politics either.

There is an actual conservative challenging Trump in the primary in Mark Sanford.

She could handle being president and the road to it must fine if she wanted to.

You're looking at 2032 for the first real chance and politics are ever changing so the likelihood of her still being a darling by then is slim. She's got the trump stink on her but doesn't embrace the trump army. She's alright with moderates but there isnt anything really to get too excited there over.

And its unclear how much she even wants to be apart of all that going forward. I dont think she has the same drive as a lot of people that want to be president do.

Mark Sanford... isnt that the guy who couldnt be reached for 2 weeks during a natural disaster in his district, purportedly because he was off "hiking the Appalachian Trail", and then it turned out he instead had spent those 2 weeks with his mistress in Argentina?
Afaik, he then divorced form his wife so he could marry that woman from Argentina.

that's the kind of ridiculous shit that would have blemished a candidate's record in the pre-trump era, but now?

the only thing that's hilarious here is that a trump supporter apparently doesn't realise that's peanuts compared to what their own cult leader does on a daily basis...

It was done while an elected official

The argument would be that as far as we know all of trump's personal life bullshit happened while he was a private/public citizen

Is he a worse man than trump? Probably not but he has proven to be greatly irresponsible while holding power. Trump will mock him as he probably had already done, the above will be the argument and sanford will end up back commentating on networks and spending the nights comforted by his soul mate

But Skinned brought up Mark Sanford as a conservative alternative to Trump. His theory of the case is exactly that Trump is unprincipled, unreliable, that his behavior is making a mockery of all the values conservatives claim to hold dear.
This argument falls flat on its face when it's coming from someone who has proven to be unprincipled, unreliable and who has already made a mockery of his marriage.

A campaign centered around the promise of "Trump bad, me good" just cannot work when in reality it's "me bad, but Trump even worse".
