It’s not far fetched that there may be inaccurate reporting but the Chinese were also accustomed to wearing face masks years before this happened and they took lockdowns seriously opposed to the USA as well.

China under reported for certain, but if you account for all variables the possible deaths still dont reach 6 figures.

We are almost certainly under reported. Our real deaths are likely 30% higher. My state still has a 13% positive test rate lol. Its a shitshow

Seems reasonable though. China likely has the same reporting problems everybody else has but isnt manipulating the numbers intentionally

I dont get how anyone can not blame trump.
Here in australia we had 3300 possibly infected people get off a cruise ship directly into a city of 9 million, we still managed to keep covid under control with social distancing, masks and hand washing.
If the president literally laughs off advice on these matters how can he carry no blame? He literally has the virus and people still try to downplay his role.

Kangaroos tend to spread the virus less easily than people in NYC. Direct comparison invalid.

He deserves some blame as the frontman of the government.

He trotted out fraudci and that other lady for about 5 years in a row. (years adjusted for 2020 inflation)

Governments across the world were pretty shit at dealing with this, including the US govt

'social distancing, masks and hand washing' were heavily pushed in America too.

Lockdowns and restrictions in many places went way too far w/ dubious results.

Some people still have their stones and want to live their lives.

Sydney is huge and crowded, it's a pretty fair comparison, Google ruby princess.

Corona in Melbourne is/was a total shitshow, you had to keep your second largest metro under a super strict, almost Orwellian lockdown for what, 3-4 months? And let's not forget the ugly infighting between your states' various governors over opening state borders, over the woman who wasnt allowed to visit her dad on his deathbed, etc.

And we also have to take into account how Australia is set up much better to deal with this virus, being an island, far away from the main international travel routes, with all major metros being so far away from each other that an outbreak in one of them is easily prevented from spreading through the rest of the country. Don't get me wrong, Australia did a much better job than the U.S., but their handling of the virus shouldnt be glorified.
