"We would like to make it clear that there is to this day no factual evidence corroborating recent reports in the US press linking the origins of Covid-19 and the work of the P4 laboratory of Wuhan, China," an official at President Emmanuel Macron's office said.
Thanks this was for time.travel.
Not finding evidence, means nothing. It's not "proof" that an accident didn't happen.

Please please do give us a reference to what "AIDS in Africa" incident you are referencing. This is gonna be really good.
Look it up. I watched, read, etc., the reports when they were happening. The US was blamed, btw. Might have been HIV, I don't really remember.
But it had to do with sort of the same thing we have now with cv 19. Some field/lab work was being done in Africa...and guess what.... it got away from them.
In the 80's iirc.
/ee tl;dr When working with deadly viruses, the odds that it will get out, are much greater than the odds it won't.
