My mom's medication costs the insurer something like €2500 per month. The co-pay is around €60 per month. And no, I didnt forget a few zeros in that second figure.
If this was the U.S., the same medication would probably cost $8000 per month, with $6000 in co-pay. XD

And yes, Germany doesnt even have a single-payer or otherwise "socialized" healthcare system, and we still manage to have universal healthcare and insurance coverage which doesnt ruin people (normally, exceptions in fringe cases are possible). Dito in every other Western European country. There's no reason why the U.S. couldnt have something similar.

My grandma got hip replacement surgery within 48 hours of having a fall at home and no one is going to go bankrupt over it. It might not be the best system but it's much better than the mess south of the border.
