Friend from my graduate lab went into military right after. Hes currently working in human intelligence or whatever you call it.
Let's just say hes very, lets just say upset, at how this is being handled. His words are basically "Trump is dipping into making military decisions for the first time in his presidency so he can try grab an approval boost ahead of impeachment and 2020".

And there are plenty of others in that exact same field that would totally disagree with him. Unless your buddy has been doing this for 20 years and a high ranking IO, he doesn't have any better info about why and what, than anyone else. Pure speculation.

Yep, I wasn't presenting this as the end-all of commentary. Just figured I'd add commentary from somebody in my life who is in a relevant field because I thought it was interesting.

Dont take my comment as anymore than what was stated. I dont post to attack, or offend anyone. I know text communication lacks the ability to translate tone into conversation. Was just merely stating that unless he is high up that pole, he is just shooting in the wind. Most people who arent familiar with military structure dont always understand how things operate.

I don't get it though. Trump was presented a number of options on Iran by the Pentagon, and he chose one. This is the sort of decision every president makes... and isn't an example of the sort of micro managing that the Obama administration was accused of.

For the non-interventionist Trump supporters, this has to feel pretty bad. He'll go tonight from being surrounded by hawkish generals in the Situation Room to watching Hannity and Lindsey call for airstrikes against Iran.
