I would encourage those of you with anything resembling this opinion to go poke around using this awesome thing called the internet and look into trans issues.
The primary issue: many are born with ambiguous genitalia and this it not a choice they made to be a man or a woman, but rather their parents and/or doctor. They now have the misfortune of needing to correct this later in life against the stigmas placed on them by society.
edit: to put it in an easier to understand way, it's like being born without legs, then being told it's your fault for not deciding to keep your legs when you were born.
