if your going to take a dive into islam and you want to understand it there is one word you need to learn first
that word is abrogation
for the purpose of studying islam abrogation simply means later verses are greater then the earlier verses.
so? what this means is if there is a contradiction its the later verse that is correct.
this is important
the early part of islam was peaceful and the later part it became war.
so yes a muslim can point to text and "show" that islam is "peaceful" but what does the text say later on?

anyway understanding "abrogation" is the key to understanding islam
