As much as I am aware that some parents are retarded, I would also point out that nothing has changed besides perceptions.

Transgender people existed long before TikTok and even the internet.

Also, people have always "mutilated their bodies" with piercings, tattoos, cosmetic surgery, and hormones.

This isn't a new conversation either. Conservatives have always taken the position against those types of things and society has always moved forward. They were lying about those things as well, suggesting that piercings indicate that you are a Satanist, tattoos are the mark of the devil, cosmetic surgery is against god, and the body builders who take steroids are all roid raging freaks who all die of cancer when they are 35 years old.

There is no truth to any of it, some people simply take actions to look like what ever they want.

Other people sit around and "let god sort it out," which apparently god likes artificial blond hair and being 50 lbs overweight...

Edit: It doesn't work either. The actions of conservatives on these subjects have always drawn so much attention to these types of things that even more people end up doing things they disagree with then if they had just been silent. The book banning stuff is a great example. Some people are spending a huge amount of effort to ban books that people can just download and the authors get rich from online sales due to the media attention...

honestly if we remove gender reassignment surgery from the equation i think most people agree, other than hormone treatments for pre-teens. but even on that front most research suggest if a change of heart occurs that most if not all of the effects of child hormone treatment can be reversed. but GAS isn't the same, its not a vasectomy which can be reversed. and the research suggest that most who get it aren't given upfront expectations of the outcome. that said it's an exceedingly rare procedure, thank god for that.

The problem still stands. You can't change gender it's impossible and the false promises of gender swap won't help. They NEED mental help.
