https://twitter.com/SenBlumenthal/status/1579898413759754240Only a dumbass would think they are doing this to help Russia, pretty much every rational person understands that by constraining supply they can keep price stability and essentially make more money by selling less.
This is why I said in the Russia thread that so much of the global south supports Russia at least in spirit. We (the US) don't respect sovereignty. Our immediate response to an ally country not doing what we want them to, even though it's in their best interest is to threaten them. It's an inherently disrespectful position. It's the reason we will ultimately lose control of these allies. These rich AF Arabs are used to being treated with respect being part of Royal families. Threatening nations to behave or else is ultimately a very precarious position. They may support you out of fear or because they get something from you but deep down they hate you for talking down to them as less.
I don't like the Saudis and we should have distanced ourself from them awhile ago, when they were exporting their toxic Wahhabism, that would of been during relative position of strength, but now it's 100% a position of weakness for us.
