Because it's more important to stop some teachers from getting a penny more than they "deserve" than it is to solve the public education crisis. Same as with every other contentious issue in our society, the entire thing always ends up with liberals proposing bland solutions means-tested into oblivion while arguing with conservatives who refuse to admit that the "public good" is conceptually valid.

It's why no major issue can ever be solved. Public education, health care, student debt, opioid crisis, climate change, anything. All just screaming and crying while the problem inexorably gets worse and worse.

Yeah, I disagree. With the salary part at least. Hiring the right people, of course.

Why are people so opposed to school choice? Vouchers? Yes, of course the absolute shit schools will fail. What’s wrong with letting it happen, giving them a one time bailout and overnight turning the education field into a meritocracy?

I’m not opposed to any specific idea. Prove that it can lead to HS graduates that aren’t drooling on themselves. And can compete with other countries and I’m in

"Why don't you support making American education as awful as American health care?"

You could just copy Finland's school system. Copy and paste. Instead, Americans are finding innovative new ways to bring back racial segregation.

Problem is inflated salaries will float into top administrative positions in a bureaucratic structure like it does

So don't do that.

Damn that was easy.

Dude, what? I don’t think you understand what school choice means.

See you think that race bait articles like this represent reality.

School choice does not mean help white kids go to private schools.

On paper that's not what school choice means, but things often turn out differently in reality than they do on paper.

Why are schools funded by local property taxes? On paper it's because communities want their money going to their schools. In reality, it came about because white families didn't want their money going to black schools. School choice came from that same era.
