most people respect her because they're unaware that she left 2 close relatives to rot in asylums and never once visited them or acknowledged them because it was bad for the royal brand name. they committed the terrible crime of being born with special needs so she metaphorically buried them in unmarked graves while they were still alive.
well, running a royal family can be nasty business
what you describe is obviously not great, but not really special in general
that shit happens all the time everywhere in families across all classes
i mean "burying" your own parents in terrible state retirement homes is socially acceptable these days, nobody will even blink when you do that

inheritance of wealth acquired through work and effort? no, it wouldn't, since there is a clear distinction being made. you could of course pose those questions, expand on that angle, but i don't think it necessarily follows from the argument.
that said, i agree it won't fly - but IF there was an overwhelming public interest in abolishing the monarchy (which there isn't), it surely could be done in a reasonable way, allowing the living royals to still lead comfortable lives at the expense of the taxpayer, but not for eternity. this video is mainly meant as a response to the "acktshually, they are a financial net benefit" crowd, because the simple reality is that those people and the system itself are not required for it at all. personally i'm not negatively affected by it. if the brits want to spend hundreds of millions to be ruled by germans, let them have that. i'm just not a fan of the concept in general, and i'm glad we don't have that here...
since when do you care about money
